Speed balls

When you read about the Royal Navy’s new radar which is capable of detecting a tennis ball travelling at three times the speed of sound 15 miles away, you probably thought: “what amazing technology! I wonder how they do that?”

I didn’t. I thought: “Wow… that’s some serve. Three times the speed of sound. I’m glad that the country will now be kept safe from the paramilitary wing of the Lawn Tennis Association.”

And then I thought, if I was on twitter I could have tweeted that, but instead it can go in my blog.

It’s been a long day.

Nope, I thought why do they want to do that? Are we under threat from rapidly moving tennis balls?

A tennis ball moving at three times the speed of sound certainly would be a threat … to anybody`s return of serve.

    • I guess we must be. I mean, why the hell else would you make something like that?
