With a bump

Many high schools require their students to wear a uniform. Apparently enforcement of this rule helps encourage good behaviour in the notoriously difficult 11-16 age group, both at school and in the community where they can be easily recognised.

As I waited for the train I noticed a young lady from a local high school. Her uniform was impeccable. Her blazer was tidy, well-fitting and uncrumpled, her shirt was neatly ironed and her tie was almost properly fastened. She was the image of a model student. The school would have been proud.

The effect was slightly modified by the fact that she was obviously heavily pregnant.

  1. I’m pretty certain that wasn’t against the rules at my school. Laws of nature maybe, but not rules.
