Sunday broad(band)sheet

A long, long time ago I used to have a paper round on Sundays. It was tedious and back-breaking, because the newspapers on Sunday were twice as heavy as on other days. The canvas sack I carried was too small for a full load of Sunday papers, so I had to return to the shop half-way round to pick up the remainder.

Since then the Sunday newspapers have got even heavier. And they are also all in colour, not just the ‘Sunday supplement’. The delivery boy probably has to drive a small truck. But I wouldn’t know because I get my Sunday newspaper online.

Today I realised that the online version is now so big that by the time it has been downloaded I don’t have time to read it.
