Back to showery Brisbane this evening, weather which must give hope to the cricket fans.

After a long day working and travelling it’s good to get back to my hotel room to put my feet up in front of the TV.

Australian TV only seems to show sport (did I tell you I’m not a sports fan?), Top Gear (I’m no fan of Jeremy Clarkson either) and derivative quasi-documentaries fronted by Top Gear presenters (yawn), with hourly 30 second news summaries (after the first bulletin all the others are the same).

Luckily I have a good book.

Mmmm, showery Brisbane or showery Norwich, I know where I would rather be………..

  2. I have a theory that all hotels actually show the same channels on a constant loop. There is never anything remotely interesting to watch and the news is always strangely devoid of any major issues.

You might enjoy the hotel around the corner from Aviva France, which is often occupied by non-French-speakers working at Aviva or one of the other big companies moving into the area. The hotel has 30 TV channels, or possibly 50, I forget which, and every single one is in French.

  4. I find that it’s best to seek out a hotel which has got Al Jazeera and RT (Russia Today) if you want to maintain a plural view of world affairs in English.
