At last

22Apr10

As I was driving home the BBC said on the radio that there will be two last nights of the proms this year.

Sorry?

Two last nights? What a brilliant idea. The viewing figures will be doubled. There will be twice as much fun and enjoyment. Twice as many happy customers.

There is a lot of scope to apply this thinking to other events. On Sunday they could double the excitement by having two last miles in the London marathon. The cup final could be played twice, giving each team the chance to win. The final lap of the 1500 metres in the Olympics could be run twice.

If the last train home departed twice, you might never miss it.  Everyone would have a chance to buy another round at last orders. The last chance to buy a sofa in the sale could be repeated every month (oh… that already happens). Your final answer could make you a millionaire every time.  And at the last judgement you could go up and down

This sort of reminds me of the ‘joke’….
Bloke walks into a chip shop and says “Cod and Chips twice”.
The man behind the counter replies “I heard you the first time…”
Not sure it works quite so well in print.
