Nearly Scotland

27Jan10

I padded over to switch on the TV, hoping for a preview of the latest fruit from the Apple orchard.

But I was distracted by an advert for Scottish Widows, a brand redolent of British tradition and financial security. My distraction was caused by the fact that the advert was clearly filmed in Iceland, a country that is sadly not associated with British traditions and financial security.

I expect that it was cheaper for a Scottish company to film an advert about Scottish values over there, what with the landscape that looks a bit like Scotland and the devalued kroner and unemployment driving down the costs.
