Free running

There is an advert for my local gym in the paper. It offers a ‘100% money back guarantee’. No conditions are mentioned. I’m contemplating joining.

At this time of year as the nights draw in I am tempted to take my exercise indoors. As opposed to labouring outside with the paint sprayer or the garden rake.

I have been put off joining a gym because they get crowded. Everyone wants to exercise before or after work.

Fortunately I still don’t have a proper job. I can go to the gym at an off-peak time when the clientele are mainly over 65. This has the added advantage of making me look fit and energetic. And younger.

The off-peak hours are during the day. In daylight, which is when I could finish my domestic duties early and then ride my bike around country lanes or jog along a leafy footpath breathing fresh air. But then I couldn’t claim my money back.
