The aftermath of Swine Flu appears to be a persistent cough (assuming that it was indeed H1N1 that afflicted the poor boy – who is now recovering, cheered by the news that 15% of his school were absent last week).
It is very wearing, living in a house with someone who has a persistent cough. I’m not surprised that the Victorians packed people with consumption off to a distant and airy sanatorium. The coughing must have got on everybody’s nerves.
Not that I’m unsympathetic or anything.
(PS no other S.Flu cases here yet. Natural immunity?…)

I remember seeing I Claudius on television a long time ago and Caligula simply had a child who had an iritating cough…..executed. Instant solution, effective but I suppose a bit extreme.
That may be a little OTT Derek! although I have to agree persistant cough…very annoying!
On the other hand, I suspect you didn’t need to listen to drum practice (hesitating before posting. Trying to lift memory. He does play drums, as I recall)..
